You can enable either SMS or WhatsApp, not both. Also, once your account is enabled for SMS,
it cannot be switched to WhatsApp, and vice versa.
For most apps, we recommend either including alternative login options alongside SMS or enabling
Multi-Factor Authentication. This ensures broad
accessibility in regions without SMS coverage and that users can continue accessing their accounts
in the event that they lose SMS access.
US and Canada SMS support
US and Canada SMS support is included at no additional cost on the Core, Scale, and Enterprise plans. You can enable SMS login and linking via the Authentication page of the dashboard.International SMS support
International SMS support is available on the Enterprise plan. Please reach out to [email protected] to request access. Once approved, international SMS will automatically be enabled for all apps on your account. Privy supports these default international regions: If you would like to enable additional international SMS regions for your account beyond the default international regions, you can set-up your own instance of Twilio, and we can connect your Twilio account with your Privy account. To connect your own Twilio set-up, please reach out to us at [email protected] and provide the following:- Twilio Account SID
- Twilio Auth token or API key SID/secret
- Twilio Verify service SID
- Twilio Messaging service SID
- Twilio Template SID
