Earn enables apps to generate yield on wallet balances. The right integration depends on the yield recipient and your users’ understanding of onchain markets.

Yield integrations

Open Standard

Open USD (OUSD) is a dollar stablecoin operated by Open Standard. The dollars backing Open USD are invested in US Treasury bills. Apps can join the Open Standard consortium and register wallets to earn yield on Open USD. The yield is paid to the app, not to users. Contact [email protected] to ask about joining the Open Standard consortium.

Tokenized money market funds

Tokenized money market funds (TMMFs) hold short-term US government debt, such as Treasury bills. Users complete KYC/KYB before buying, then hold fund shares directly in their own wallets. Privy’s Earn API supports buy and sell orders for WisdomTree WTGXX 24/7.

DeFi vaults

DeFi vaults supply deposits to onchain, non-custodial lending markets, where borrowers pay interest for liquidity. That interest accrues to the vault, so each vault share grows in value over time. Curators allocate deposits across markets to balance risk and return, and APY moves with borrower demand. Privy’s Earn product enables apps to set up vaults on Morpho and Aave, two of the largest DeFi lending protocols. Developers interested in allocating a single deposit across multiple yield strategies can use Tempo Earn or Veda vaults through the Earn API. Yield sources include tokenized money market funds, onchain lending, and institutional credit, and each yield source has a unique risk profile and its own rate of return.

Earnings are not guaranteed, and every yield source involves risk, including loss of funds. Your app should make clear to users that yield is generated via a stablecoin, tokenized money market fund, tokenized real-world asset, or DeFi protocol independent from the wallet provider. Users keep full control of their assets and should explicitly direct the deposit action. Privy does not provide investment, financial, legal, or tax advice.
