# Crypto deposits

> Create persistent deposit addresses that convert incoming crypto into a target asset

To deposit crypto into a wallet, configure **crypto deposit addresses**. These enable you to send crypto to a wallet and have it automatically be bridged or swapped to a target asset.

There are two types of deposit addresses in Privy: **same as the existing wallet address** or **a newly provisioned address**.

| Deposit address is a new address, provisioned with the same wallet configuration. | Accept deposits from a different chain type as the wallet (e.g. SVM deposit --> EVM wallet) | Privy provisions a new wallet with the same configuration on the *deposit* chain type to receive deposits. A wallet automation converts those to the target asset in the target wallet. |

In either case, since the receiving wallet has the same `owner` configuration as the target wallet, invalid assets sent to that wallet are cryptographically recoverable through private key export.

Deposit addresses are safe and reusable; the same address works for every future deposit on the configured route.

## How a crypto deposit works

1. Create a crypto deposit account on a destination wallet, with the assets to accept and the asset to deliver.
2. Fetch each `deposit_address` for the wallet.
3. Send crypto to the `deposit_address` based on its route configuration.
4. Funds are converted and delivered to the target wallet.
