# Private transactions

> Keep stablecoin balances, payments, and yield private with Privy wallets on Tempo Zones

On most blockchains, balances and payment activity are public by default. Anyone can look up an address and see what it holds, who paid it, and where its funds went. Privy brings privacy to stablecoin wallets and transactions with [Tempo Zones](https://tempo.xyz/developers/docs/zones). Your app can offer the confidentiality users expect from traditional financial accounts.

A Tempo Zone is a private environment anchored to Tempo mainnet. Balances and transfers inside a zone are hidden from public view, while funds stay connected to the liquidity, ramps, and yield available on Tempo.

Private transactions are in early access. Contact [sales@privy.io](mailto:sales@privy.io) to

## Benefits

* **Private balances and payments:** User balances, payment history, and counterparties stay off the public ledger.
* **Private yield:** Users can earn onchain yield without revealing their balances or positions.
* **Works with existing Privy wallets:** Wallets keep the same IDs, addresses, APIs, and webhooks.
* **Connected to public liquidity:** Funds move between the zone and Tempo mainnet to reach ramps, swaps, and yield. Observers can't tell which user is transacting.
* **Built for compliance:** Zones are private, not anonymous. Businesses retain the records they need to reconcile payments, support customers, and meet reporting requirements.

## Transaction visibility

Zones scope privacy by role. Onchain observers see aggregate movement in and out of the zone, while user-level detail stays with the parties that need it.

| Party | What they can see |
| - | - |
| Onchain observers | Total funds entering and leaving the zone and aggregate vault activity, but not which user moved funds |
| Users | Their own balances, positions, and transaction history in your app |
| Your app | User balances and transactions inside the zone, for crediting accounts and reconciling payments |
| Zone operator and authorized providers | Activity needed to operate the zone, screen funds, and settle payments (Tempo, Privy, and ramp providers) |

## Use cases

* **Payroll and contractor payouts:** Pay employees and contractors in stablecoins without exposing salaries, payout history, or balances.
* **Vendor and B2B payments:** Keep supplier relationships, invoice amounts, and payment timing confidential.
* **Consumer spending:** Let users hold and spend stablecoins without creating a public record of their financial life.
* **Private yield:** Offer onchain yield while each user's position stays private inside the zone.

## How it works

1. **Funds enter the zone privately:** Ramp providers credit funds directly to a user's private balance. Observers see a deposit into the zone, but not who received it.
2. **Users transact inside the zone:** Privy wallets hold balances and send payments within the zone, out of public view.
3. **Funds reach public liquidity when needed:** Withdrawals and Earn deposits settle on Tempo mainnet. Observers see funds leave the zone, but not which user moved them. For Earn, the vault interaction is public. Ownership of the resulting position stays private inside the zone.
